Hundreds toast new business at chamber holiday
mixer
By Mike Henry

Ribbon cutting ceremonies last week for two new wineries-Olde
Lockeford Winery and CasCande Pitto Wines- took place during a
Chamber of Commerce mixer. Pictured form left in front row are:

More than 500 visitors filled their wineglasses last week at Lockeford's
Vino Piazza as part of the Clements-Lockeford Chamber of Commerce's
holiday mixer. The event also marked a ribbon cutting ceremony
for CasCande Pitto Wines and for the "re-opening" for
business of the Olde Lockeford Winery on Locke Road.
"It was a great evening for people to learn a little bit
about what Lockeford and Vino Piazza have to offer," said
Manuel Arevalo, chamber president. " The mixer provided the
opportunity for people to visit with one another and realize that
our community is truly a destination point for individuals and
groups."
The Locke Road site was a rabble of discarded junk and burned
buildings just a few years ago. But under the new ownership of
Copperford, LLC, owned by Karyn and Don Litchfield, a transformation
has taken place that includes the hosting of several wineries
with the expectation of several more to arrive next year.
The wineries participated in the mixer by providing barrel tastings
of new vintages as well as offering bottled tastings. In addition
to the Litchfields' Olde Lockeford Winery, other wineries pouring
and already a part of the existing group include Peters Family
Winery, Cosentino Signature Wineries, and CasCande Pitto Wines.
Pouring during the mixer and planning to arrive next year are
Watts Winery and Borra Vineyards.
"We want to utilize our facilities to host various functions
during the course of the year," said Don Litchfield. "We
have facilities for both large and small events."
