Introducing
our ViP Members:
Cantiga Wineworks
A Summer Fare By Christine Rorden,
Cantiga Wineworks
The arrival of summer is, for many,
a time for lighter menus accompanied by crisp white wines on the
veranda. One of our seasonal favorites is a chilled, poached salmon
filet on a crisp bed of spinach, lightly dressed in a citrus vinaigrette.
This dish pairs wonderfully with Cantiga Wineworks' refreshingly
unique 2000 "Oakless" Chardonnay---a well-structured wine
with abundant fruit and a lingering finish. A variation that works
exceedingly well with Cantiga's award-winnng Barrel-Aged Chardonnay
is to dress the salmon filet in a rich cream sauce and serve over
pasta. A hint of fresh ginger in your sauce will bring out the subtle
nuances of oak flavors in this wine. Cheers to summer!
If you have not yet visited the
Cantiga Wineworks' tasting room, you are in for a treat! Step out
of the summer heat and into a Gothic chapel. Candles and church
pendant lamps softly light the tasting bar, and rich tapestries
liven the walls of what once was an old concrete wine tank. Tasting
is offered weekends, noon to 5 pm or by appointment.

Joseph Narcizo Wines
Joseph da Costa Narcizo was born
in 1889 on the Portuguese island of Terceira. Upon immigrating to
the United States in 1906, he "Americanized" his name
to become Joseph Costa.
Joseph and his new bride, Lucinda,
established a family dairy business in Stockton, California and
raised eleven children in the heart of the Delta. Wine, a staple
in all European homes, was always included at mealtime. Wine making
is still the family tradition Joseph brought with him from the Azores,
and it continues today through his son, Louis and grandson, Patrick.
Today's wine making has come a long
way from the good old days when Joseph and his sons made 25 barrels
and kept them under stacks of hay to control the temperature. Through
the talents of our winemaker, Chad Joseph, we have made a commitment
to honor the integrity of the name left behind so many years ago
on Ellis Island--to produce premium wines in the time-honored tradition
of Joseph Narcizo. Salu'!

KitFox Vineyards
KitFox Vineyards is the fruit of a family farming
tradition that has lasted for over 50 years.
KitFox Vineyards is located on a pristine piece
of land where the Sierra Foothills meet the rich Central Valley.
Here, the Pacific Ocean's clean mist clings to grape bunches every
night while California's lavish sun kisses the grape each day. The
land, on which the vines strive for perfection, is ideal for the
production of fine wines with distinct characteristics, which nod
to the Rhone. The Vogel family has spent three generations cultivating
the land with a tender hand and the exceptional products they have
grown are a testament to a tradition of razor sharp focus on detail
and quality. From the hand vine cultivation to the hand wine crafting,
our wines put a stake in the ground for Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon,
Viognier and Fume Blanc. Enjoy!

Macchia
[MAH-kia] Italian for "the spot".
Our passion at Macchia is to make wines of distinction.
We do this by picking only small lots of the finest grapes possible
from California's most prestigious wine growing regions. We like
to think of them as California's best "Spots". This philosophy
continues with our attention to detail and gentle handling of the
fruit throughout the wine making process. We feel strongly that
this "hands-off" style greatly enhances the wine's personality.
You can taste where they came from. We hope that you will enjoy
the opportunity to discover the difference between these exceptional
vineyards.
Remember, it's all in the Grape!

Watts Family Estate Wines
After many years of successful vineyard production,
the third generation of the Watts family has taken the logical 'next

Grandfather Frank to late Grandfather Richard, and is now proudly
cared for by his children. Producing an elegant Old Vine Zinfandel

a long, velvety finish that will compliment an array of fine foods.
