Tamara Pennington
The LA Times called her a blond bombshell but it is her quick wit that gets Tamara noticed on stage. Sometimes described as a “cynical ditz,” she recalls being terrified and actually crying before performing for the first time at THE COMEDY STORE. That all changed the moment she got her very first laugh as a stand-up comedian. A relative newcomer, the 6-foot tall comic is one of the hottest stand-up talents in Los Angeles working at The Improv in Irvine, Brea and Ontario, Comedy Union, The Ice House, Martini Blues and The Laugh Lounge & Don’t Tell Mama in New York. Her conversational style and soul-baring humor make her a favorite with audiences across the country.
Her most notable TV appearance was a brief turn on FRIENDS, opposite Jennifer Aniston. Tamara will be found dancing her way into American’s living rooms this fall when she competes on TLC’s entry in the Ballroom Dance world, “Ballroom Bootcamp.” Feature film credits include DEVILS ARE DREAMING (Dances with Films & The Newport Beach Film Festival) and a leading role opposite Sherri Shepherd in comedian Eric Edwards’ autobiographical film, KING OF THE OPEN MICS. She hosted a celebrity chat show for Canadian magazine myFW.com, interviewing James Franco and Scott Foley and other up and comers. After studying at THE GROUNDLINGS, Tamara honed her comedic skills while a member of the LA based Improv/Sketch Comedy Troupe, FOOL writing, producing and performing live sketch comedy.
Tamara and her writing partner and fellow comedian, Tracey Abbott are bringing their hilarious two person show, NOT QUITE FAMOUS, to the Los Angeles stage in the fall. Please visit www.tamarapennington.com for updates and news on upcoming appearances.
